It is recommended to book in advance to secure a place on the tour. We have a maximum cap on tours for operational, safety, and tour quality reasons, so we prioritise those customers with bookings on arrival to the meeting point.
We can accept large groups on the public tours with 24 hours notice, but it is nearly always a better option for large groups to book a private tour. That way you have your own guide, and your group has more flexibility.
Yes, we specialise in private tours of Dublin and tailor every experience to suit your needs. We offer private guided tours for individuals, couples, families, and small groups, as well as larger corporate groups, schools, and colleges. The duration of tours, and endpoint vicinity, are indicated on the individual tour pages. These are approximate and can vary slightly depending on the tour guide, the group itself, and external factors affecting the tour route, for example, street closures, etc.
All of tours start outside The Old Storehouse Bar on Crown Alley in Temple Bar, you will know your guide by the green umbrella they are carrying.
Tipping isn’t required. Your ticket covers the full tour. That said, if you’ve enjoyed your experience, tips are always welcome and genuinely appreciated by our guides. They’re a lovely way to say thanks for a job well done. Whatever you choose to do, our priority is making sure that everyone has a great time on their tour.
Yes, all of our tour guides accept card/contactless payments.
Children are very welcome on our tours. Please note, though, that our tours are designed with adults in mind. They include adult themes and references to violence. We leave it to parents to decide what’s appropriate for their children, and we’re always happy to answer questions before you book. Everyone is welcome to explore Dublin with us.
Original Dublin is a guide collective made up of actors, writers, musicians and accredited tour guides, all of whom share a deep passion for Dublin and Ireland. That mix is what makes our tours different: you’ll get the history, but told by natural storytellers who really know how to bring the city to life.

Our tours focus on Dublin’s historic city centre, so you’ll see landmarks like Dublin Castle, Christ Church Cathedral, St Patrick’s Cathedral, Trinity College, Temple Bar, the riverside and the O’Connell Street area. Some tours also take in St Stephen’s Green and beyond.
We will always give a refund if a tour is cancelled 24 hours in advance. Tours cancelled after this time will not be refunded although we can try amend your time slot, if we have another time that suits you.
We always endeavour to run tours as scheduled. We recommend checking weather forecasts in advance of arrival to the tour and dressing appropriately. We reserve the right to cancel or postpone tours at short notice in extreme weather events, such as a red weather warning from the Government. In such an instance, we will endeavour to notify those with bookings of any changes to the schedule where possible.
Pictures are fine. Though if you’d like to make any video or audio recordings, we ask that you consult with your tour guide first for permission. If you’re found to be making recordings without the guide’s consent, you may be asked to leave the tour. Thanks for respecting this policy.
Our walking tours in Dublin are planned with accessibility and comfort in mind, and we welcome guests with a wide range of physical abilities. That said, some tours may involve walking distances of up to 3–4 kilometres, generally at a relaxed and manageable pace. Please note that seating cannot always be guaranteed along the route. While our guides are happy to adjust the pace or route where possible, availability can vary depending on location and group size. If you have mobility considerations, accessibility needs, or specific requirements, we strongly recommend getting in touch with us before booking so we can advise you and make any suitable arrangements in advance.
There’s a baggage storage in Abbey Court Hostel on Bachelors Walk. Allow 5-10 minutes to do this before you are due at the meeting point for the tour.
The tours are 2 hours long unless stated otherwise and we walk on average about 3.5KM. Though there are some slight hills, anyone with a basic level of fitness will not find this to be difficult.
We run our public tours at 10:00, 11:00, 12:00, 13:00, 14:00, 14:30, 15:00, and 18:00. Specific times can be found on the tour pages of this website. Private tours can take place at any time, it’s up to the customer to decide what suits their schedule.
It’s more spooky than scary. There are no jump scares, it’s an evening of dark stories, ghostly legends and grisly moments from Dublin’s past, told with plenty of fun along the way. Some of the stories do touch on death and violence, so we leave it to parents to decide what’s right for their children. If you’re unsure, get in touch and we’ll happily tell you more.
There is not always a dedicated toilet stop on the tour, but if you are in need, your guide can direct you to the nearest facilities.

Public tours: Cancel more than 24 hours before your tour for a full refund. Cancellations within 24 hours are not refundable, but we’re happy to move you to another date or time, subject to availability.
Private tours:
Full payment is required to confirm and secure your private tour. Of this amount, 20% is treated as a non-refundable deposit.
We understand that plans can change, cancellations made more than 7 days in advance will receive a refund of any remaining balance paid, less the 20% deposit.
Due to guide scheduling and preparation, bookings cancelled within 7 days of the tour date are non-refundable.
In the case of exceptional circumstances (such as force majeure events), rest assured that, as far as is practicable, we will always aim to work with you in good faith to find a fair and reasonable solution.
